MACAN, meaning “Tiger” in Bahasa Indonesia, reflects the artist’s journey from her Chinese-Javanese upbringing in Indonesia to her life in Australia, where she was immersed in a vibrant multicultural environment. Inspired by a tiger image her father displayed at home, cut from a calendar the year she was born, this exhibition reimagines cultural identity through tiger inspired personas, paying homage to her family and Asian heritage.
