I've been busy lately; working seven days a week (5 days as a graphic designer, 2 days as cafe staff and midnight freelancer). I'm preparing to start my own small business. I joined this excellent screen printing workshop, run by Harvest Textiles, a Melbourne based textile design trio. Fun experience, lovely people and enjoyable atmosphere. Check their programs here.

I don't often go to Fitzroy side, but I am thrilled I went this morning and attended the artist talk: Beci Orpin about her happiness via Melbourne Creative Morning. Inspiring and talented illustrator! After the conversation, my friend and I went for brunch at one of the favourite locals, Slowpoke. Melbourne-based French designer Anne-Sophie Poirier aka Sasufi has designed the interior of this cafe with a minimal budget and shortlisted for the Australian Interior Design Awards 2012. Poirier made use of offcuts from local furniture makers who use recycled timbers to decorate a 12-meter long wall in the cafe. Read the full review via Broadsheet.
I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for all your kind support this year! Your likes, tweets, reblog, blog posts, emails and any kind words have made my art feel more loved. 2012 was indeed another good year for me; I had the opportunity to do crazy shit that I want to do before I die, I also got involved in lots of inspiring projects and travel abroad to few countries. I'm looking forward to achieving more good things in 2013. My new years' resolution is to stay longer in this country, get a full-time job, involved in more crazy art projects and chase more dreams. I hope everyone has a beautiful New Years Eve and safe holiday season!!! AYEE!!
June 2012. I got my hair cut quite short for the first time in nearly one decade in Tokyo and bought a domain www.melbartdiary.com - my photography project.
August 2012. I decided to stop looking for a full-time job as a graphic designer and rented my first art studio. September 2012. Talented Indonesian journalist, Lily Yulianti Farid launched her newest novel, Ayahmu Bulan, Engkau Matahari with my drawing as cover art and other 17 artworks inside the book.
Lost & Found market is exactly across the road from Harvest Textiles workroom. This place is very similar to Chapel St Bazar. Both of them filled with bizarre bits and bobs from years past, a crazy selection of vintage goodness from floral dresses, retro furniture until cute game boy. Worth a visit.
