Self is a group exhibition celebrating Off the Kerb’s14th anniversary. It explores one’s identity – who you are, the way you think about yourself, the way you are viewed by the world and the individual, key characteristics that define you. It takes into account culture, customs and social behaviour of a particular people or society. It examines those social and political influences that shape you.
Self explored heritage – a person’s unique, inherited sense of identity, the values, tradition, language & religion passed down from previous generations. It takes into consideration gender, sexual preference and orientation.
This exhibition aims to raise awareness and financial support for issues that have become urgent for us to act on. The Black Lives Matter Movement shines a light on our need to listen to our First Nations Peoples to pay the rent and end black deaths in custody. Now is the time to address family violence matters..Now more than ever we need to stand up for the rights of the voiceless.
